Investing in the UK Ports Industry
09 November 2009 - Events news

On 19 January 2010, Waterfront will be hosting Investing in the UK Ports Industry: Performance in the Recession, Opportunities for the Future at Bircham Dyson Bell in Central London.

The severe economic downturn has inevitably impacted on the ports industry. With shipping being particularly badly hit many port operators have as a consequence found it necessary to make substantial cost savings through redundancy programmes and other cuts in expenditure. However, ports still remain attractive longterm investments with the expectation that once the international markets recover, growth will resume.

The conference will examine the short-term impact of the recession and look at the longterm investment opportunities from the perspective of the investors’ own funding and investment requirements. In addition, the conference will provide an opportunity for public sector and trust port owners to comment on their perceptions of the right models for encouraging private investment in their ports and for discussion on the role of Government in stimulating the process by which further private sector investment can be attracted into the UK’s ports sector.
