Conference: Impact of the 2008 Planning Act
15 October 2009 - Events news

On the 1st and 2nd December, Waterfront will be hosting The Impact of the 2008 Planning Act for Businesses, Developers and Project Promoters, a two day conference, in Central London.

The Planning Act 2008 creates the biggest shake-up of the planning system for more than sixty years. The aim of the new regime is to speed up decisions for the UK’s national infrastructure. National Policy Statements will provide a clear framework by which a new independent body, the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) will determine projects.

This autumn, Government will be consulting on the first seven National Policy Statements. The IPC will start receiving applications from the energy and transport sectors from the 1st of March 2010.

This event provides an essential guide for project promoters on the role and development of the National Policy Statements, how to prepare an application to the IPC and the examination procedure.

There will be break-out sessions discussing the draft National Policy Statements for:

  • National networks – road and rail
  • Nuclear power
  • Renewables
  • Fossil fuel generation
  • Ports
  • Electricity networks
  • Oil and gas infrastructure
